Law Enforcement Volunteer Positions

Stockton Police Department

  • Animal Care
    Age: 16 and over
    This position does not require a uniform. Volunteers assist with pet adoptions, special events, spay/neuter awareness, and animal care.
    Requirements: Depends on the position.

  • Senior Cadet
    Ages 18 - 23
    Senior Cadets wear special Police Department uniforms. They assist with special events and Police patrol.
    Requirements: 6 college units or be enrolled in college.

  • Police Reserve Officer
    Age: 21 and over
    Reserve Officers serve with full Peace Officer status through the Stockton Police Department.
    Requirements: High School diploma or GED and Police Academy or Reserve Officer Modules A-B-C-D.

  • Volunteers In Police Service (V.I.P.S.)
    Age: 40 and over
    VIPS wear special Police Department uniforms. They assist with Police Patrol, special events, clerical and/or reception duties, and Satellite City Hall.
    Requirements: Must pass a 5-day VIPS Academy.

  • Junior Cadet
    Ages 14-18
    Junior Cadets wear special Police Department uniforms and assist with special events.
    Requirements: Maintain passing grades in school.
  • Law Enforcement Chaplaincy
    Age: 21and over
    Chaplains of all faiths provide physical, mental, and spiritual support to Stockton Police Officers and victims of crimes/tragedies.
    Requirements: Credentialed Minister by a recognized ecclesiastic body, either ordained or licensed.

  • V.O.I.C.E.   (Volunteers Out Identifying Code Enforcement)

Requirements: Must be a resident of Stockton, be a member of a recognized association that endorses the City's programs (such as Neighborhood Watch) and abide by the rules of the V.O.I.C.E. Program.

  • Boxing Assistant -
    Police Athletic League

    Age: 21and over
    Assist with youth boxing training and clinics.
    Requirements: Certified by USA Amateur Boxing Association

  • Junior Giants Baseball
    Coach and Assistant

    Age: 18 and over
    Coach a youth baseball team July - August, and/or assist Stockton Police Jr. Giants Commissioner with coordinating, fund-raising, and promoting the games.
    Requirements: Knowledge of baseball

  • Internships
    Volunteer positions may be designed for an individual volunteer if there is a need for their skills within the department.
 
All Stockton Police Volunteers are subject to a background check.
