Photo of planting McKinley Community Center/Park Clean-up:

Two hundred members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints adopted a community center and park to “Make A Difference”.

Volunteers cleaned, painted and repaired the interior and exterior of the center and park buildings. They also built new storage cabinets and a wall to create new office space. The work this volunteer group did in one day will make a difference for City staff and guests, for years to come. Photo at McKinley School
Photo of planting Downtown Beautification:
Volunteers helped with the fall planting of trees, bushes and flowers in several parks and flowerbeds around our city.

Volunteers enhanced Parks and Recreation crews, enabling them to plant more in much less time.

Everyone that works, plays and visits Downtown Stockton will benefit from their generosity.
Storm drain Stenciling & River Clean-up:

Girl Scouts of America, along with several other volunteer groups assisted the City by stenciling catch basin storm drains with an anti-pollution message.

Friends of Smith Canal cleaned up two miles of waterway. A telephone booth with phone attached, two car engines, various car parts, 30 shopping carts, tires and a floating dock were some of the items found in the waterway.

With the wet weather beginning, the river clean-up and storm drain stenciling will go a long way in pollution prevention and provide a healthier environment for the entire community.
