Friday July 18, 2003 and Saturday July 19, 2003
Baylor's skimmed the water and pulled out 4.86 tons of garbage from the Yosemite Lake.

During a heavy storm in late Spring of 2003, three boats broke loose and sunk in the center of the Smith Canal.

Under emergency authority, City staff worked with TowBoat to abate those boats. Another two boats were found under brush in the levee vegetation and removed.
Car removal in July 2003 (found during Friends of Smith Canal Clean-up) and August 2003 (found during July car abatement). Two cars were removed from the canal. To identify other navigational hazards, a side scan sonar was completed by Marine Construction Engineering in September.

16 cars were removed in November 2003.
Saturday, July 26, 2003.
The most successful clean-up to date resulted in the removal of 4 tons of garbage (items of interest included: 3 additional abated boats, 2 docks, appliances, sofa/chairs, mattresses, furniture frames, a TV, car batteries, tires/rims and shopping carts).
