Friday July 18, 2003 and Saturday July 19, 2003
Baylor's skimmed the water and pulled out 4.86 tons of garbage from the Yosemite Lake.

| During a heavy storm in late Spring of 2003,
three boats broke loose and sunk in the center
of the Smith Canal. |

Under
emergency authority, City staff worked with
TowBoat to abate those boats. Another two boats
were found under brush in the levee vegetation
and removed. |
| Car removal in July
2003 (found during Friends
of Smith Canal Clean-up) and August 2003 (found
during July car abatement). Two cars were removed from the canal. To identify other navigational hazards, a side scan sonar
was completed by Marine Construction Engineering
in September. |

16 cars were removed in November
2003. |
Saturday, July 26, 2003. The most successful clean-up to date resulted in the removal of 4 tons of garbage (items of interest included: 3 additional abated boats, 2 docks, appliances, sofa/chairs, mattresses, furniture frames, a TV, car batteries, tires/rims and shopping carts).
