Residential Rates

 

The City’s contract with your garbage company allows for an automatic annual rate adjustment each June 1. The adjustment equals 50% of the change in the Consumer Price Index over a one year period. In conformance with this contract provision, the Stockton City Council approved a 1.65% increase in garbage rates. On April 29, 2008, the Council also approved a special rate increase of 2.5% for the service providers due to the extraordinary increase in the cost of fuel. The increase in residential rates, effective June 1, 2008, is shown below.

Residents are billed on a monthly basis for waste collection services. These charges can be found on your water utility bill.

Notes:

  1. The residential collection rates will be applicable to single family homes, duplexes and tri-plexes.

  2. Monthly cost is based on the size of your trash cart. The 60-gallon cart for recycling and 90-gallon cart for green waste and food waste are provided at no additional charge.

  3. All wheeled carts are provided to residents by their service provider at no additional charge.

  4. Additional green waste carts are provided upon demonstrated need at no additional charge.

  5. If you are a Senior 65 and older, contact the City of Stockton Utility Billing at 937-8295 to receive a 10% discount on all regular cart rates.

  6. Seniors 65 and older and below median income (annual income below $35,483) may be eligible to receive an additional 10% discount - for a total of 20% off - on all regular cart rates.
