Quality of Life in Stockton -
Recreation

Stockton offers a realm of local recreational opportunities such as a professional mens-A baseball team, an Olympic size ice rink, an abundance of golf courses, and the Delta which offers thousands of miles of waterways for all types of water sports. Below are some of the activities enjoyed by Stocktonians.

Golf Courses, Parks, a Zoo and more!
The greater Stockton area boasts three public golf courses, three private courses, two regional parks and 47 public parks. In addition, the city has 29 softball diamonds and 22 playgrounds. Softball, Little League, soccer, basketball, ice hockey, and volleyball are very big participation sports in the area.

Just north of Stockton is Micke Grove Zoo. The zoo is big enough to be entertaining, but small enough so that children aren't overwhelmed and don't become exhausted. Many families like to combine their zoo visit with a picnic in the park...it's the perfect family outing!

Of course, there is always Pixie Woods Park. This is a land of fairytale adventures designed for very young children.

And, if ice skating is your sport, then you must visit the Oak Park Ice Arena. An Olympic-sized ice rink that is used for recreational skating, figure skating, ice hockey and birthday parties!

To find out more about Stockton's parks and golf courses, visit the Parks and Recreation Department's web page.

Delta Waterways
Stockton's most distinctive geographic feature, the element that distinguishes it from other San Joaquin Valley cities, is its prime access to 1,000 miles of the Delta. On the Delta, it is easy to get the feeling of being alone with nature, though more often than not you are not far from your car, or at the very least, from a marina or resort.
