Engineering

The Engineering Division, with 49 employees, has three core functions:

  • Delivering projects included in the City's Capital Improvement Program;
  • Reviewing new development for compliance with City codes and standards; and,
  • Engineering and management of the City's traffic circulation system.

The Engineering Division is composed of four main sections:

Development Services
The Development Services Section is composed of three teams, the Entitlement Team, Construction/Inspection Team, and Map and Plan Check Team. This section works together to assist subdividers and developers in processing plans, permits, maps and agreements needed to facilitate new development. We are the forefront for reviewing, approving, and inspecting new development for compliance with City codes and Standards.

Traffic Engineering
The Traffic Engineering Section is dedicated to an ongoing effort of improving traffic safety. Staff responded to citizen, Council and upper management requests ranging from crosswalk and stop sign installations, to speed zones, signal timing changes and parking problems.

Capital Improvement Project (CIP) Delivery
The CIP Delivery Section is comprised of three teams. They are CIP Team 1, CIP Team 2 and Fiscal Management Team. Each team plays an integral part in making sure the citizens of Stockton receive well-built public projects in a timely manner.
