How the Police Department
Responds to a Burglar Alarm
There
are two ways Police respond to an activated
burglar alarm:
- An
Audible Alarm is heard by people
near your home and reported to the
Police Department. The Police Dispatcher
then calls one of the people listed
on your alarm permit, and asks him/her
to meet the responding officers within
20 minutes with a key to your home.
- A
Monitored Alarm sends a signal
to a monitoring station.
Your alarm company's dispatcher then calls the Police Department
with information about your alarm, including the name and estimated
time of arrival of a person who will respond to your alarm within
20 minutes with a key to your home.
