Community Policing - Park District

Photograph of Lt. Chuck McLaughlinA message from the Park District Commander
Lieutenant Chuck McLaughlin

The Park District's boundaries are generally to the west along the Union Pacific Railroad tracks, south to the city limits, east to the eastern city limits, and north along Harding Way.  Click here to view a map of the Park District and the other community policing districts.

The Park District is a diverse community that faces a number of social, economic, environmental, and growth issues. The rapid expansion of residential development has created a blend of old and new neighborhoods, each with its own issues and needs.

SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD AREAS:

The Park District has several organizations that seek to improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods. These organizations include the Sousa/Stribley Neighborhood Betterment Committee in the northeast sector and Stocktonians Taking Action to Neutralize Drugs (STAND) Committee in the south sector. On a regular basis, District Sergeants and Officers attend meetings and respond to resident concerns.

The Airport Corridor Action Team (ACT) was created to revitalize the Airport Corridor neighborhood at Charter Way to the North, Carpenter Road to the South, the UPRR/SPRR railroad tracks to the West, and Bieghle Street to the East.  The mission of the Airport Corridor Action Team (ACT) is to revitalize the Airport corridor neighborhood, plan for change, and implement urgent action required for the long-term success and economic stability of the area.

The Stockton Police Department is also in partnership with the San Joaquin Housing Authority to provide two Police Officers for the Sierra Vista area. These community Police Officers have made substantial progress in our efforts to reduce crime and improve the quality of life in and around public housing areas.

The Park District is also home to a growing number of industrial and business park areas. Scattered throughout the southern and eastern portions of the District, these businesses bring vital jobs to the community and have easy access to railroads, freeways, and the airport.
