Stockton Police Department - Community Policing - Lakeview District

Photograph of Lakeview District Commander John MizeA message from the Lakeview District Commander
Lieutenant John Mize

The Lakeview District's geographical borders are generally to the north at Hammer Lane, south at the Calaveras River, east at the Union Pacific Railroad tracks, and west to the city limits. Follow this link for a map of the Lakeview and other Districts.
The Lakeview District is a rapidly growing area with many new housing and commercial development projects. Lakeview has a variety of shopping, restaurants, and educational institutions within its boundaries. Lakeview's demographics are both diverse and unique, making it a very exciting place to live and work.

Police personnel assigned to the Lakeview District operate under the concept of Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving. This form of policing is both a philosophy and strategy. It requires Police personnel to form partnerships with the citizens they serve in an attempt to identify the substantive problems that negatively impact the overall quality of life in their community. Police personnel are then challenged to arrive at a solution by innovative thinking and utilizing all of the many resources available to them. All Lakeview District Police personnel are committed to providing the community with the highest level of service possible.

We encourage community involvement and have several crime prevention programs in operation. Two of the most important programs we have to offer are the Neighborhood Watch Program and the Com-Watch Program, both of which are coordinated by ourPhotograph of Police K-9 Unit Community Services Section. Neighborhood Watch groups are formed out of concern for their neighborhoods, and they regularly meet with Police personnel to address those concerns. This program has yielded excellent results in the form of crime reduction and blight eradication, and has built a stronger relationship between the Stockton Police Department and the community.  The Com-WatchProgram creates a partnership between businesses and the Police Department, allowing the police to keep local companies updated on current crime trends and recent activity.
