"How Do I Report a. . .?"

Call 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY.  Calls to 9-1-1 are free from payphones.

If you are in the city of Stockton and using a cell phone,
the emergency telephone number of (209) 937-7911 can also be used:

  • The emergency telephone number (209) 937-7911 is answered with the same priority as 9-1-1 calls,
  • Will bypass the California Highway Patrol Office, and
  • Is still treated like an emergency.

  • Use of the (209) 937-7911 number DOES NOT display the caller's telephone number and address, however.

9-1-1 AND THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT

  • The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires all Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) to provide direct, equal access to their services for people with disabilities who use teletypewriters (TTYs). For information on obtaining a TTY device, contact the Norcal Center on Deafness in Stockton at (209) 474-3088. The ADA states very clearly that every call-taking position within a PSAP must have its own TTY or TTY-compatible equipment. PSAPs must have systems that enable call takers to handle TTY calls as properly, promptly, and reliably as voice calls. The ADA requires that TTY equipment must be maintained and tested at least as often as voice telephone equipment, to ensure that the equipment is operating properly. The Stockton Police Department is in full compliance with this.

  • Individuals that are blind and visually-impaired can use the digits 9-1-1 on the telephone or use a pre-programmed speed-dial button.

Click here for more information on 9-1-1.
