of a Police Report
To be in compliance with public disclosure and privacy rights,
the Stockton Police Department has specific policies and
procedures regarding the release of reports. All reports
are evaluated to determine your rights to obtain a copy of
them. Most reports are releasable (example: accident
reports) but others such as ongoing criminal investigations,
information concerning juveniles, etc., need to be reviewed by supervisory staff for consideration to be released.
If you are the victim of a crime or an involved party of
an accident, you may obtain a report by:
- Mailing a request to the Police Department's
Records Section, 22 East Market Street, Stockton, CA 95202. The
cost is $9.25, plus $1.00 for the first page and .25 cents for each subsequent page, and a postage
charge. If information is required by law to be removed from a report (redacted), the charge is $10 per report. When ordering your report, please include the following information:
- Your Name
- Date of Birth
- Identification (either Driver License or Social Security
number)
- Crime Report Number or Location and Date of Incident
- Address and Telephone Number for Contact
- Indicate the Type of Incident (Accident, Arrest, etc.)
- You can also request a report in person. NEW HOURS! Effective June 1, 2007, the new hours are 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Closed on weekends and holidays. The
cost for reports picked up is $1.00 for the first page and .25 cents for each subsequent page.
