Officer Eric Nelson – Stockton Police Department
United States Marine Corps Veteran
Meet Officer Eric Nelson, Stockton PD, United States Marine Corps veteran. I was a 6111/6072 Aircrew member, and later an 0211 member. In 1998, I was MCIA SNCO of the year for the entire 02 field. Some of the highlights of my career included meeting Gunny Hathcock (Marine Sniper) and George Tenet (Director CIA), and serving with the HMM764 and 14CIT. I was called up for Desert Storm. Deployments include SAR, Counter Narcotics, JIATF-E, G2I, and adventures in South America.
I had more than one employment offer from law enforcement agencies; however, I chose to become a Stockton Police Officer because the Stockton Police Department has a reputation as the "A Team" of Northern California law enforcement. Stockton Police Officers see and do more on an average day than many officers at other agencies may do in a week or two. If you want experience and adventure, the Stockton Police Department is the place for you.
Stockton Police Department is generous and pays a full salary while employees are in a 26-week Police Academy. The benefits are outstanding, as is the retirement (3% of your final salary multiplied by the number of years worked, and you can retire at age 50!). Another great benefit is that Public Safety employees and military personnel can purchase service time toward retirement. If you are 25 years old when hired, work 25 years, and buy five years' time, when you turn 50, you can retire with a 30-year retirement.
