City of Stockton Parks Division
The
Parks division maintains and operate 63 parks. They range from
two-acre neighborhood sites to 64-acre community parks.

A wide range of activities are associated with city parks - from
picnic areas, assorted game courts, swimming pools, ball diamonds,
football and soccer fields, tot lots, fountains, tennis courts
and more.
Approximately half of Stockton's city parks have bathroom facilities.
Some larger sites have community centers and others boast larger
complexes - like Oak Park's Billy Hebert Field and Pixie Woods at Louis Park.
Public attendance at city parks each year is estimated at over
2 million. Nineteen of Stockton's 63 parks are larger, community
parks with amenities for organized sporting activities and larger
community gatherings.
The value of our city parks is immeasurable. Check with your local
realtor and you will find that homes near parks are worth far
more than the same structures in crowded subdivisions with no
greenbelts, landscaping or places for kids to play. On the other
hand, parks maintenance is measurable. Stockton's average park
size is approximately five acres. Depending on the level of activity
within a park, maintenance and repair costs range from $6,000
to 8,000 per acre, per year. |
