Delta Performing Arts Foundation of CA

Delta Performing Arts Foundation of California instructors focus on developing early musicianship using the Kodaly approach for children ages 16 months to 6 years.  Please note: no video or audio recording is allowed during class.
 
Pre-K Music Play I

For tots ages 16 months to five years old*

Take the first steps on a fun and informal journey of musicianship studies through percussion, rhymes, singing games and simple movement through an age-appropriate Kodaly approach. These music-making activities naturally encourage the development of basic musical competency. *Children under the age of 3 require parent participation in class.

Facilitated Drum Circle

For ages 5-adult*

Come Jam! Learn about various world percussion instruments and have fun plaing together in this facilitated group journey that encourages exciting in-the-moment music. The focus is on the connection and communication between the participants. No previous musical expertise required. A selection of various Afro-Cuban percussion instruments will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own cultural or homemade drums also. *Children under age 9 must have an accompanying guardian or sibling over age 16 participating in class.

Young Rembrandts

All children can - and should - learn to draw. Drawing is the foundational skill required for future artistic success. Young Rembrants classes give children the skills they need to express their creativity, and the step-by-step process allows every child to have a great outcome. Your child will be amazed at the finished product after these remarkable drawing lessons.  No prior art experience is necessary. All materials supplied. New lessons in each class and session.  Come join us!
 
Pre-School Drawing Class

For ages 3½-5

Young students are so eager to learn and a joy to teach! Young Rembrandts instructors provide a nurturing and strong learning environment that expands pre-schooler's image vocabulary as they draw familiar images such as fish, teddy bears, rainbows and cowboys. Class concentrates on drawing and coloring skills while developing fine motor skills, focus, listening, staying on task, patience and spatial organization.

Drawing Class

For ages 6-13

Elementary-age curriculum designed to teach basic to advanced drawing skills, art techniques and vocabulary in a positive and nurturing environment that brings out the best in each child. The Young Rembrandts elementary drawing curriculum is not only fun, but also proven to improve a child's focus, attention to detail, core behavioral skills, creativity and imagination.

KinderGym

Parent/child play develops coordination and social skills! Class features a gymnastics component. Tot must be walking.  Instructor Nancy Healy.

Creative Classes for Kids

 

Beginning Guitar

For kids ages 8-15, no experience necessary. Learn the basics of playing guitar in this fun and easy five-class series. Homework will be assigned to help each student become a proficient guitar player. Must bring a guitar and pick, tuner is optional.

Drawing Basics

Get Crafty!

So, you think you're not crafy? We'll help! Impress your friends and family (maybe even yourself) with one-of-a-kind cards, scrapbook pages and other paper crafting projects. For kids and adults, ages 10 and up. All materials needed for the class will be provided by instructor.

Ikebana: Japanese Flower Arranging

Learn traditional and modern Japanese flower arranging. This class will expand your creative side and build your imagination with the help and guidance from well-known Bay Area instructir Shuji Ikeda. His work can be seen online at www.shuji-ikeda.com. Bring vase, flowers and scissors. Sign up by February 29.
