Stockton Road Construction & Traffic Alerts

Frequently Asked Questions about Streets and Sidewalks

Temporary Road Closures :

Street Maintenance on Pacific Avenue at Robinhood Drive

City of Stockton Street Maintenance Crews will be working in the southbound left-turn lanes on Pacific Avenue at Robinhood Drive on Tuesday, October 28, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Some of the concrete blocks, currently used as traffic separators, will be removed, and reflective devices will be added. Both left-turn lanes and the lane closest to the median will be closed during construction.

For questions, please contact the Public Works Operations and Maintenance Division at (209) 937-8341.

Projects in Construction:

California Street Strong Neighborhoods Initiative Improvements Project

Construction continues for the California Street Strong Neighborhoods Initiative Improvements Project between Arcade Street and Alpine Avenue.  New wheelchair ramps have been installed and curb, gutter, and sidewalk have been repaired along California Street at the Arcade Street intersection.  Storm drain work (installation of maintenance holes, inlets, and laterals) is nearly complete along California Street.  In general, the outside lanes will be closed in each direction along California Street within the project limits during construction.  The City has contracted with Top Grade for construction of the project.  Construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of September 2009.

In general, the project will install a lighted crosswalk at the Arcade intersection, new storm drain improvements, new curb, gutter, sidewalk, and wheelchair ramps where none exist and repair existing curb, gutter, and sidewalk along California Street between Arcade Street and Alpine Avenue.  Strong Neighborhood Initiative funds will be used to fund 100% of the project improvements.

March Lane / Pershing Avenue Signal Modification Project

The March Lane/Pershing Avenue Project will construct a second left turn lane in each direction on March Lane at Pershing Avenue, and extend the length of the existing left turn pockets. The project is funded by a Hazard Elimination Safety grant and Measure K funds.

Phase I of the project has been completed to construct new ADA curb ramps and install signal poles at the intersection.

Phase II and III work started Monday, August 3, 2008. During Phases II and III, the lanes closest to the March Lane median will be closed to traffic until September 30th to remove seven trees, demo the existing median island, and construct dual left turn lanes on March Lane. For Phase II, the contractor will install traffic control on March Lane to remove the trees, median island, and construct the dual left turn lanes west of Pershing Avenue. Phase II work will take about four weeks to complete. Phase III is identical to Phase II, except the work will be to construct the dual left turn lanes for westbound March Lane Traffic on the eastside of Pershing Avenue. Both phases are estimated to be completed by end of September 2009.

If you have any questions, please contact City of Stockton
