Neighborhood Renaissance Program

Pilot Neighborhood

The Redevelopment Department has contracted with MIG to assist with the development of the first neighborhood plan.  University Neighborhood has been selected for the first neighborhood plan (see map below).  It is located within the Civic Center Service District with a wide mix of assets and challenges.  The neighborhood currently benefits from a number of community groups, University of Pacific outreach programs, and the newly established Property-Based Improvement District for the Miracle Mile Commercial area.

The first University Neighborhood Action Committee meeting will be on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at the Wendell Phillips Center on the UOP campus (corner of Stagg and Dave Brubeck Way).  To find out how you can be involved with the Neighborhood Action Committee, click here.

The pilot project will give staff the experience to refine their business strategy and better understand the team approach to service delivery.  This is key to allowing the program to expand to other neighborhoods.  The City must learn how to effectively integrate every department’s resources into the program. NRP is not an additional task; it is simply a different way of doing the things they already do.
