FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE : Friday, December 18, 2009

City of Stockton Furlough and Holiday Closed Dates
Modified Schedule Begins January 2010

(Stockton, CA) - City of Stockton offices will be closed for furlough days and holidays, December 23, 2009 through January 1, 2010; December 23 and December 24 and December 28 through December 31, 2009 are furlough days, which are unpaid days for employees, and December 25, 2009 and January 1, 2010 are observed holidays.

When offices re-open on January 4, 2010, new City office hours will begin under a modified schedule, adopted by the City Council on December 1, 2009. Like the cities of Tracy, Manteca and Lathrop, City of Stockton offices will now be open extended hours Monday through Thursday and closed on alternate Fridays. January 1, 2010 is a scheduled holiday; the first closed Friday, under the new schedule, will be January 15, 2010.

The new schedule is referred to as a 9/80 schedule, where hours are adjusted so that employees work 80 hours over the course of 9 workdays, rather than 10 days. The public will benefit from extended hours of service, and the new schedule will help the City meet federal air pollution control standards by reducing the number of days each year that employees commute and reducing peak traffic hour commutes.

Hours of service to the public are posted on the City of Stockton web site, along with a City Schedule Calendar that identifies closed Fridays, holidays, furlough dates and City meetings. Please visit www.stocktongov.com for specific hours of service. For additional information, please call (209) 937-8827.
