Get Fit! Stockton 5K Walk and Fitness Festival Kick-off Saturday

(Stockton, CA) – Plan your weekend with a fitness focus. Get Fit! Stockton kick-off event is, Saturday, June 14, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. – noon, at the Weber Point Event Center downtown Stockton, where Miner Avenue meets Center Street. Start with a 5K Walk at 8:00 a.m. and stay for the free fitness festival, beginning at 9:00 a.m., with over two-dozen displays featuring fitness opportunities and information and resources about health and wellness.

Get Fit! Stockton is a city-wide wellness program to promote exercise and improve health in the community. Community members interested in participating in the 5K Walk can register at any of the following locations: City of Stockton Parks and Recreation, 6 E. Lindsay St.; Fleet Feet at Lincoln Center, 6541 Pacific Ave.; Downtown Stockton Alliance, 343 E. Main St.; or 8:00 a.m. the day of the event at Weber Point Event Center.

The 5K Walk is not mandatory. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the free Fitness Festival, which will include healthy food vendors and food preparation demonstrations, resources for nutrition, exercise ideas, fitness demonstrations, games for children and families, prizes and giveaways.
