City Utility Billing Department Issues Scam Alert

(Stockton, CA) - The City of Stockton Utility Billing Department would like to alert customers to a potential scam. The Department has been notified that consumers may be receiving calls containing a recorded announcement, prompting them to pay their utility bill by credit card over the telephone.

“We did recently implement credit card payments for utility billing customers,” said Kathy Whitman, City of Stockton Utility Billing Department. “However, our system is initiated by the customer. We do not have an outbound calling system.”

If you have received a recorded call claiming to be generated by the City of Stockton, please hang up immediately and report the call to the City of Stockton Utility Billing Department at (209) 937-8295.
