Downtown 4th of July Celebration
Street Closures, Parking & Safety Zone Update

(Stockton, CA) - Stockton’s 2007 4th of July celebration and activities will include the annual downtown Veteran’s Parade, All-America Community Celebration and evening entertainment at Weber Point Event Center, and waterfront fireworks display. Streets will be closed during all activities and other parking and waterway access restrictions will apply.

The fireworks display will be launched from a point west of I-5 and will include bursts up to 800 feet in the air. The show will last for approximately 15 minutes and be visible from Weber Point Event Center, the waterfront, and from a distance where a view of the sky is unobstructed. Those enjoying the show are encouraged to select a viewing location and remain in place until the show has completed and traffic has cleared.

Street Closures
The parade will start at Weber Technical Institute, 302 W. Weber Ave. The procession will go north on El Dorado St., west on Oak St., south on Center St., and west on Weber Ave., returning to Weber Technical Institute. The following street closures will be in effect between 10a – 1p for the parade:

North and South Street Closures
• Center St. between Market St. and Acacia St.
• El Dorado St. between the north curb line on Market St. and Oak St.
• Hunter St. between Weber Ave. and Channel St.
• Commerce St. between Fremont St. and Oak St. and Market St. to Weber Ave., Market St. will remain open to eastbound traffic

East and West Street Closures
• Washington St. open westbound, closed northbound between Madison St. and Van Buren St.
• Market St. closed between Madison St. and Van Buren St., open to eastbound traffic from Commerce St.
• Weber Ave. closed from west curb line on San Joaquin St. to Lincoln St.
• Bridge Pl. closed between Hunter St. and El Dorado St. (access to Hotel Stockton residents only from Hunter St.)
• Channel St. closed between west curb line on Hunter St. to Center St.
• Miner St. closed between west curb line on Hunter St. to Center St.
• Lindsay St. closed between west curb line on Hunter St. and Center St., open to eastbound traffic at Hunter St.
• Civic Court closed between El Dorado St. and Center St.
• Fremont St. closed between west curb line on Hunter St. and Madison St.
• Oak St. closed between west curb line on Hunter St. to Madison St.

The All-American Community Celebration will include activities within Weber Point Event Center and McLeod Lake Park, from noon – 4p. Weber Point Event Center will close at 4p and re-open at 7p. Evening entertainment will be provided inside Weber Point and at McLeod Lake Park until 9:30p. The fireworks display will begin at approximately 9:30p and last for 15 minutes.

North and South Streets Closed 5p – 11p
• Center St. will be closed between Acacia St. and Weber Ave.
• Commerce St. between Weber Ave. and Market St.; Market St. open eastbound
• Madison St. between Weber Ave. and the north curb line at Washington St.
• Van Buren St. between Weber Ave. and north curb line at Washington St.
• Lincoln St. at Washington St.

East and West Streets Closed 5p – 11p
• W. Washington St. between Weber Ave. and Garfield St.
• E. Washington St. open to westbound traffic; closed northbound on Madison St., Van Buren St. and Lincoln St.
• Market St. between Madison St. to Van Buren St.; open eastbound from Commerce St.
• Weber Ave. between El Dorado St. and Lincoln St. (local resident access only)
• Channel St. between El Dorado St. and Center St.
• Miner St. between El Dorado St and Center St.
• Lindsay St. between El Dorado St. and Center St.
• Civic Ct. between El Dorado and Center St.
• Fremont St. between El Dorado St. and Madison St.
• Oak St. between El Dorado St. and Madison St.

Water Access Restrictions
Waterway and water access restrictions and closures will apply to accommodate the Wakeboard Exhibition during the day and the fireworks display at night. Morelli Park will be closed all day to cars, pedestrians, boats and other watercraft. McLeod Lake and the downtown channels will be closed during the day for the Wakeboard Exhibition. In the evening, only commercial and shipping vessels will have limited access to waterways east of the west boundary of the Port. Recreational boaters, watercraft, and people using other flotation devices must comply with the U.S. Coastguard-imposed safety zone.

Parking Information
Event parking rates will apply at City parking lots. The cost is $5 per vehicle upon each entry into the lot. The following parking facilities will be open for event parking:

Event Parking Beginning at 10a
• Coy Garage, access from Hunter St., between Miner Ave. and Weber Ave.
• Civic Center, access from Oak St., between Commerce St. and Center St.
• EDD, access from Oak St. or Fremont St. between Madison St. and Commerce St.

Event Parking Beginning at 1p
• Stewart-Eberhardt Parking, access from El Dorado St., between Market St. and Weber Ave.

Event Parking Beginning at 5p
• All City lots in the vicinity of the Stockton Ballpark and Stockton Arena, access from Fremont St.


In addition to regular parking restrictions, many downtown area streets will be posted with “No Parking” signs. Violators will be cited and towed.
