Stockton Arts Commission announces writing contest winners

The Stockton Arts Commission is pleased to announce the winners of its 11th Annual Writing Contest.  Two prizes each were awarded in adult and student categories in poetry, fiction and non-fiction.  Award recipients in student poetry included Estefano Segovia, 1st place and Emily Wilburn, 2nd place.  Tyson Bonaparte received an honorable mention.  Student fiction winners were Emily Wilburn, 1st place and John Thiel, 2nd place.  Gracie Ferguson received an honorable mention. 

Adult prizes for poetry went to Marina Torres, 1st place and Ingrid Keriotis, 2nd place.  Barbara Jaekel received an honorable mention.  In non-fiction, 1st place was awarded to Fran Benavidez and 2nd place to Mel Corren.  Howard Lachtman received a 1st place in fiction, David Gundrum, 2nd place and Edward Bonilla received an honorable mention.

Award recipients will be honored at a reception on May 17 at 2 p.m. at the Stockton Arena Conference Room (North Entry), 248 West Fremont.  The community is invited to meet the writers, hear selections from their work and enjoy light refreshments.
