Equinoa Park Dedication November 4
( Stockton , CA ) – Stockton Parks and Recreation will hold
a park dedication ceremony for the City's newest park on November
4. Equinoa Park is named after retired teacher and former Park
and Recreation Commissioner, Matt Equinoa. The park is located
in the La Morada development in north Stockton .
The park will include a group picnic shelter with tables,
a full sized basketball court, two tennis courts, a parking
lot for two future softball diamonds and soccer fields. There
is also a play lot for children, benches, and safety lighting
along a concrete walking path.
The park is named in honor of Matt Equinoa. Equinoa recently
retired from the Stockton Unified School District after working
for more than 40 years. He also served on the Parks and Recreation
Commission for 27 years. A sports enthusiast, coach and volunteer,
Equinoa also served on the City Council Athletic Review Committee,
the Mexican-American Hall of Fame Selection Committee, and
was President of the Youth Sports Foundation.
Six acres of the proposed 15-acre site have been developed.
The remaining acreage will be developed as funding allows.
The dedication ceremony will be held at in the southwest corner
of Morada Lane and Glacier Point Drive on November 4 at 11
a.m. |
