Victory Park Ponds Restoration Underway

(Stockton, CA)  - The City of Stockton Municipal Utilities Department announces the long-anticipated repair and improvements to the Victory Park Stormwater Ponds are set to begin on June 22, 2009.

After an extensive and thorough bid process, the City of Stockton has selected Odyssey Landscape Company of Lodi for the repair and construction of the improvements according to plans prepared by the City’s contractor, Callander Associates. All components of this project will be paid for by the Stormwater Utility Enterprise Fund.

Visitors to the park will begin to notice the first signs of progress with the installation of a temporary construction safety fence around the ponds and the draining of the water within the ponds to enable construction crews to begin the removal of accumulated pond sediment and muck. Victory Park will remain open and available for enjoyment during construction. Patience is requested as materials and machinery can/will be moved to temporary locations within the project parameter as the construction progresses.

The project is anticipated to be completed by Fall 2009. Once completed, the Victory Park Ponds will once again be a community oasis for all to enjoy.

For more information about the project, call the City’s Stormwater Program at (209) 937-8155 or visit the City’s website at www.stocktongov.com/MUD.
