Stockton's New Teen Center Opens

( Stockton , CA )— The new Gary and Janice Podesto IMPACT Teen Center , 725 N. El Dorado Street, will open to the public for the first time Wednesday, March 23 at 4 p.m. The community is invited to tour the newly renovated facility and get a sneak preview of upcoming activities and site amenities, conceptualized and designed by the City of Stockton Youth Advisory Commission (YAC). Facility features include a climbing wall, computer room, a multi-purpose/ basketball half-court area, classrooms, and a four-lane bowling alley.

“The new teen center is awesome,” says Youth Advisory Commission Chair Cristina Fortney, “we want everyone to come and check it out – teens, parents, our younger brothers and sisters who will be teens someday, teachers…anyone with an interest in what teens in Stockton are up to.”

The renovation of the old El Dorado Bowl building into a state-of-the-art teen hangout was funded by a $2.2 million dollar grant through the California State Parks and Recreation Department's Murray-Hayden Urban Youth Services program.

The facility will be managed by the Boys & Girls Club of Stockton through a partnership with Stockton Parks and Recreation. The Youth Advisory Commission will act as an advisory board.

The grand opening celebration will include tours, food, fun, and giveaways for all ages. For additional information, please contact the City of Stockton Parks & Recreation Department at (209) 937-8307.
