How much water do you use each day?
Type of Use Use per person per day (gpd)
Shower/tub 15 - 25 gallons
Sink 3 - 5 gallons
Toilet 5 - 15 gallons
Washing Clothes 10 - 15 gallons
Washing Dishes 5 - 10 gallons
Cooking 1 - 2 gallons
Miscellaneous 1 - 3 gallons
Total 40 - 80

Conservation Tips:

  1. Check all plumbing for leaks
  2. Don't use the toilet as a wastebasket or ashtray
  3. Place a weighted object in the toilet tank
  4. Take shorter showers
  5. Install water-saving showerheads
  6. Take a bath in a partially filled tub
  7. Don't let the water run while brushing your teeth
  8. Fill the sink to rinse your razor instead of letting water run
  9. Use the washing machine & dishwasher only for full loads
  10. Don't let water run while you rinse dishes or vegetables
  11. Water your lawn only as needed and then deep soak it
  12. Water during the cool hours of the day
  13. Plant drought resistant plants
  14. Use mulch around plants
