Industrial Waste Collection

This page provides information about the City of Stockton industrial waste collection policies, its permit & requirements, as well as an application to obtain the City's Industrial Waste Collector Permit.

Stockton Municipal Code (SMC) 8.04.240 makes it unlawful to collect or transport industrial waste, including commercial, construction or demolition debris within the City of Stockton without a permit that authorizes to do so.

As of May 31, 2009, three companies obtained a current City of Stockton Industrial Waste Collector Permit, authorizing them to collect industrial waste until 2019. These companies are:

Allied Waste                                           (209) 466-5192

California Waste Recovery Systems       (209) 369-3712

Waste Management                                (209) 946-5721

Construction contractors, subcontractors, or landscape contractors may self-haul and recycle or dispose of debris from a construction, demolition or landscaping site, provided that the contractor utilizes its own personnel and equipment, and transports debris while performing its own work. Any debris collected on site through general clean-up operations, whether periodically or at the completion of a project, may not be transported and disposed by a third party, unless that third party has obtained a necessary Industrial Waste Collector or a Commercial Recyclable Material Collector Permit (Stockton Municipal Code 8.28.050).

A Resource List is available, showing all authorized Industrial Waste Collectors and Commercial Recyclable Material Collectors. This Resource List is also provided at the time of a permit application at the City of Stockton Permit Center.
