Human Resources Department

The City of Stockton is one of the largest employers in Stockton with approximately 1,683 employees. With 14 departments, the City of Stockton is a full-service city providing many public services and performing a multitude of diverse and challenging jobs.

MISSION STATEMENT:

The Human Resources Department is a cohesive, collaborative team of professionals dedicated to creating partnerships by supporting all programs and departments within the City.  It is the mission of Human Resources to utilize a stewardship philosophy, strategic vision, and leadership in providing quality and innovative customer-driven human resources services and programs to support organizational goals, and to create a healthy and positive work environment for City employees to deliver high quality service to the citizens of Stockton.  We achieve our mission through internal consulting, problem resolution, and the provision of efficient, cost-effective, and customer-responsive human resources services.

Human Resources Department

Hours of Operation

Monday through Friday

9:00 a.m. to Noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A drop box is located inside the lobby area for applications and other forms to be submitted between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. Voice mail messages may be left at (209) 937-8233 during closed hours.


Interested applicants can learn of job openings from a variety of sources, including:
  • The 24-hour jobline, (209) 937-8523. This telephone recording lists all current job openings and is updated every Friday afternoon.
  • This web site. Simply click on Job Openings to find a listing of current job applications available.
  • The Human Resources Department, located at 22 East Weber Avenue, Suite #150. Job announcements and applications can be obtained for all current openings, or Interest Cards may be submitted for certain positions that may be open in the future. (Interest Cards remain on file for six months, and all potential applicants are notified by mail if an opening occurs during that time.)
  • Cable Channel 97. This City Government access channel shows a listing of job openings periodically 24 hours a day
  • Newspapers and specialized journals, local schools, businesses, community organizations and colleges (including San Joaquin Delta College and University of the Pacific).
