This
building was built in 1875 by William F. McKee, a local business
man. It was the second home of the Stockton Savings and Loan Society,
later to become known as the Bank of Stockton. The bank was housed
here from 1875 until 1908, when it was re-located to the corner
of Main and San Joaquin Streets.
The Sterling Department Store located in this building after the
bank's removal and remained there until its demolition in the 1960's.
