McKinley Park Renovation

The City of Stockton was awarded a Proposition 68 Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program grant of $8.5 million in 2020. Additional funding provided from Strong Communities Measure M, Transformative Climate Communities (TCC), and state funding designated for this project will allow the City to complete a renovation of the park. McKinley Park is located at 424 E. 9th St. The park is 22.3 acres and is the largest municipal park in South Stockton.

 

Project Description

  • Renovation projects at McKinley Park will include new picnic shelters, ball fields, play area, restrooms and storage buildings, basketball courts, futsal courts, jogging track, soccer fields, landscaping, and irrigation system modification, path lighting, one parking lot modification, parking lot resurfacing, and swimming pool and pool house renovations.
  • A project concept plan was prepared by Callander Associates and submitted with the grant proposal to the State.

 

Project Schedule

  • The City Council awarded the design contract in 2021; the design is scheduled for completion in fall 2022.
  • Anticipated construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2023. 
  • Anticipated construction completion is scheduled for fall 2024.
