For years, hundreds of bird enthusiasts have flocked to the Stockton Wastewater Treatment Tertiary Facility for birdwatching. Stockton has a wetlands to assist in the effort to treat wastewater and make the area more inviting for birds and birdwatchers alike.
The Stockton Constructed Wetlands was featured as part of the 9th San Joaquin Birding Symposium and is quickly becoming established as a breeding site for local bird species. A recent baseline bird count by the Audubon Society recorded over 7,300 birds representing 55 species.
While the public is welcome and encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity, this is a secure facility. For security reasons, bird watching is by appointment only. Please schedule your visit at least a week in advance. Call the Bird Watching and Plant Tour phone number on the Contact Us page.
When you arrive for your appointment, all visitors must first sign-in at the Plant Administration Building. From there, you will be directed to the Tertiary Facility.
Plant Tour
While the public is welcome to take a tour of the facilities, this is a secure facility. For security reasons, plant tours are by appointment only. Please schedule your visit at least a week in advance. Call the Bird Watching and Plant Tour phone number on the Contact Us page.
When you arrive for your appointment, all visitors must first sign-in at the Plant Administration Building. From there, you will escorted through the facility on an informative tour.
