Utility Services

The Municipal Utilities Department is comprised of three individual utilities:

The Water Utility provides clean, safe, and sustainable water to northern/southern portions of City. The Delta Water Treatment Plant (DWTP) began operation in May 2012, providing up to 30 million gallons per day of treated surface water from the San Joaquin Delta and Mokelumne River.

The Wastewater (Sewer) Utility protects public health and promotes environmental stewardship by collecting and transferring sewage from properties within the City, special districts outside the City, and certain areas within San Joaquin County to the Regional Wastewater Control Facility (RWCF). On average, the RWCF treats 30 million gallons of wastewater daily and discharges into the San Joaquin River under a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit.

The Stormwater Utility maintains pump stations, pipelines, and drain inlets that collect and route runoff water from the streets and gutters to our local rivers, creeks, and sloughs to prevent flooding, ensure water quality, and protect Stockton's streams and shorelines.

The City of Stockton Utility Service Area Maps provide additional service area information about all three utilities: water, wastewater and stormwater. Find out the water service provider for specific City addresses visiting About My Address.
