Councilmember Paul Canepa is serving his second term on the Stockton City Council representing District 3. He was elected to a first term on City Council in 2011, and, after a few years, he ran for and was elected to his current term, which began in January 2019.
While serving on City Council during his first term, he worked with the other Councilmembers to support the City during bankruptcy, including serving as chair of the Audit Committee. In his second term, he is committed to addressing the Council priorities, including reducing crime in Stockton.
Prior to serving on the Stockton City Council, Councilmember Canepa served on the Lincoln Unified School Board as a Trustee and was appointed to represent the school district on the Stockton Parks and Recreation Commission. Serving on the Parks and Recreation Commission helped him to gain a better understanding of and value greenspaces in Stockton. During times of financial difficulties in Stockton, Councilmember Canepa never considered reducing greenspaces was an option to address economic shortfalls.
Councilmember Canepa is a lifelong Stockton resident. After graduating college, Councilmember Canepa returned to work in his family business, which was established in 1955.
