Library Makeover Celebration and Dedication

Stockton Beautiful, an organization of community members dedicated to increasing community pride by enhancing the city’s aesthetic appeal through civic improvements, is taking on a new project downtown Stockton. This week, work will begin on a makeover of the Cesar Chavez Central Library courtyard.

The first phase of the project will be completed in time for a celebration and dedication on Monday, May 2, at 5:30 p.m. in the library courtyard, 605 N. El Dorado Street.

This event is open to the entire community.

Councilmember Lofthus represents Council District 3, which includes the neighborhoods of Lincoln Village West, Quail Lakes, West Lane and Hammer Lane, extending north to Lincoln Road and Hammer Lane, south to March Lane, west to include Lincoln Village West, and east to the Union Pacific Rail Road line.

Preview Protected Bike Lanes

All Stockton residents, from avid cyclists to bike supporters, are invited to see and feel what it’s like to ride on a life-sized model of a protected bicycle lane in their community.

This live demonstration on Bike to Work Day is part of the City’s Bicycle Master Plan Update project.

The temporary “Living Preview” will be on display and available for test rides on Wednesday, May 11, on Center Street near Weber Point (from Lindsay Street to Channel Street), from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

City staff and consultants will be on hand to provide demo tours and answer questions.
