Handicapped Access Board of Appeals

Note: This Board is included in the City of Stockton's Conflict of Interest Code and members are required to disclose economic interests held within the jurisdiction of the Board/Commission, by completing a Statement of Economic Interests Form 700 when appointed, as required by the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) and the City of Stockton.

Financial interests are reportable only if located within or subject to the jurisdiction of the City of Stockton or if the business entity is doing business or planning to do business in the jurisdiction or has done business within the jurisdiction at any time during the two years prior to filing the statement.

Function:

  • To hear and decide appeals of administrative decisions including, but not limited too, denials of requests to use alternative methods of providing access to public accommodations by physically disabled persons as required by the California Health and Safety Code, Part 5.5 (Section 19955, 35 seq.).
  • The Board may approve, disapprove or modify Building Division interpretation of Part 5.5 of Division 13 of the Health and Safety Code including the exceptions contained in Section 19957, and enforce actions taken by the Building Division.
