Function:

  • Act as advisory body to the City Council;
  • Studies Housing Department data to determine recommended ongoing project funding levels;
  • Reviews Department of Housing and Urban Development applications for Community Development funds;
  • Meets with area residents to analyze activities, needs and community support for newly designated areas.

 

Legal Authority:

Committee established to provide for citizen participation according to guidelines from the Federal Housing and Urban Development Department and Council Resolution No. 32,044 - February 10, 1975. Amended by Council Resolutions No. 95-0199, 97-0029, 97-0087, 00-0577, and 06-0219.

Appointing Authority:

One representative shall be nominated by the Mayor and each of the six (6) Councilmembers with appointments approved by the vote of the City Council.

Term of Office:

Four (4) years. Terms begin October 1st and end September 30th of affected years. No limit to the number of terms a resident may serve except for Council Districts with more than one representative).
