Council Procedures

The City Council meets for its regular weekly meeting on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Meetings are held in the Council Chambers, on the 2nd floor of City Hall, 425 N. El Dorado Street, in Stockton.

Council meetings are televised live on Cable Channel 97 and rebroadcast Wednesdays at 8:00pm. Citizens are encouraged to participate in Council Meetings through written or verbal communications.

Your Mayor and Council Members are very accessible via the web. Citizens who would like the Council to review a particular item should send a formal request to the office of the Mayor or their District Councilmember. The Mayor, or Councilmember, will review the item and notify you of any pending Council action or follow up. Correspondence can be emailed, or sent to the following address:

Agenda Item 5

Citizens Comments. Citizens may comment on any subject within the jurisdiction of the City Council, including items on the Agenda. Each speaker is limited to five (5) minutes. Speakers must submit "Request to Speak" cards to the City Clerk, and be prepared to speak when called. No speaker cards will be received after the close of the Citizen's Comments portion of the meeting.

Agenda Item 9

Public Hearings. Speakers should hold comments on items listed as a Public Hearing until the Hearing is opened. If a large number of people desire to speak at a Public Hearing, the Mayor may reduce the amount of time to three (3) minutes.

Agenda Item 10

Council Comments. The Council may briefly discuss items brought up by citizens or direct staff to handle matters involving City services. Any extensive discussion or Council action must be placed on a future agenda for consideration.
