Mayor's Blue Ribbon Crime Prevention Committee
Meeting Minutes

DATE/TIME: May 17, 2006
3:00 p.m.
Cesar Chavez Library, Stewart Hazelton Room
605 North El Dorado Street

ATTENDANCE:

Opening Comments:

Mayor Edward Chavez called the meeting to order at 3:15 p.m. and gave his welcome remarks. *There were two documents handed out at the meeting. The first document was a paper titled “Position Paper on The Faith and Crime Prevention” by William R. “Bill” Brown. The second document outlined each subcommittee and their key priorities.

OPEN DISCUSSION:

Mayor Chavez informed the committee that they would be splitting into three subcommittees today to discuss each topic and to choose a Chairperson. Mayor Chavez noted that each subcommittee will be responsible for taking notes at their meetings and then reporting back to the full committee. **Fabrizio Sasso asked that all subcommittee members that are not full committee members send their contact information to him including their email address.

Mayor Chavez asked the committee to decide on a reasonable timeline to have reports in and it was decided that the Interim Report from each subcommittee will be due on September 1, 2006 with the Final Report due November 1, 2006.

The group then broke up into the three subcommittees for discussions.

*All handouts are available upon request. Please contact Nicole Mamorno at the City Manager’s Office, (209) 937-7850.
