Business License Fees for Peddlers and Solicitors

Under Section 6-034.21 of the Stockton Municipal Code, a solicitor is any person who engages in the business of going from house to house, place to place, on or along the streets, within the City of Stockton and/or by telephone, selling or taking orders for or offering to sell or take orders for goods, wares, or merchandise or other things of value for future delivery, or for services to be performed in the future.

Under Section 6-034.20 of the Stockton Municipal Code, a peddler is any person who sells and makes immediate delivery of goods at any place in the City of Stockton other than a fixed place of business (as defined in code section 6-001).

Both Sections 6-034.20 & 6-034.21 of the Stockton Municipal Code require that the applicant obtain a Police Clearance prior to the issuance of the Business License. A tax of $6.17 per month applies.
