Historic Bob Hope (Fox) Theatre in Downtown Stockton
The Renovation Project

The Theatre is a 2,048 seat multi-purpose entertainment and cinema theatre built in 1930. Listed on the national register of historic places, the Theatre just completed a $8.5 million restoration project. This major renovation project included:
  • renovation of the marquee and fox sign,

  • completely refurbished seating,

  • new acoustic plaster,

  • cleaning and restoration of decorative murals and painting,

  • state-of-the-art sound,

  • lights and rigging systems,

  • restored light fixtures,

  • expanded restroom facilities and concessions.

  • A carved granite sidewalk along the front exterior of the theatre and a marble mosaic floor will encompass in the center of the rotunda lobby. Both of these flooring projects were designed by professional artists.
The Theatre celebrated a grand re-opening on September 18, 2004. The theatre is used for live performances, cinema, private parties and other special events. The Stockton Redevelopment Agency intends to hold one to two live performance events there per week and will fill in vacant days with other types of events.

See photos of the renovation - posted May 27, 2004.
