Art In Stockton - Skate Park at Anderson Park
The
City of Stockton's first official public art piece, since the formation
of the Public Art Advisory Committee,
was installed in February 2002 at
Anderson Skateboard Park located at Benjamin Holt Drive and
El Dorado Street.
Bryan Tedrick, from Glen Ellen, California, was selected from twelve
artists who submitted their qualifications to the Public Art Department.
The jury selection panel reviewed the submissions and asked four
artists to come up with proposals. Tedrick was selected unanimously
by the panel after reviewing all four proposals.
The project includes eight life-size figures in a variety of skateboarding
positions mounted on poles at different locations inside the fence
surrounding the skate park. The figures are constructed from found
metal objects welded together with some stainless steel and bronze
pieces included randomly. |
