Stockton Arts Commission
Stockton's Top Arts Recognition (STAR) and other Arts Awards
Richard Rios received the STAR (Stockton’s Top Arts Recognition). He was honored for his accomplishments as a painter, sculptor, writer, musician and actor. Richard's work has had a significant impact on the community with its message of love, respect and high regard for the human spirit.
John and Pat Quinn, Food 4 Less/Rancho San Miguel Markets, received the Patron Award for their generosity to area arts, social and community service organizations, including the Bob Hope Theatre, Stockton Arts Commission, Children’s Museum, Good Tidings Foundation, Stockton Emergency Food Bank, American Heart Association, Mary Graham Children’s Center and the Stockton Sports Commission.
The Career Achievement Award was awarded to Bill Humphreys. This Stockton native has had a successful career as an actor, producer and director in radio, television, film and live theatre for 35 years. His achievements exemplify how
a supportive family, school system and community can impact a young life.
Bobbie Wallinger was honored for thirty-eight years of distinguished service and leadership as an arts advocate and volunteer and for her Outstanding Achievement in Arts Education in almost every facet of Stockton’s arts and cultural community.
An Outstanding Achievement in the Literary Arts Award was presented posthumously to the family of David Humphreys, who passed away on July 28, 2008. The Stockton Arts Commission is honored to celebrate his life as a poet and his work on behalf of other writers.
The Mayor’s Award was presented to the Tidewater Art Center and Gallery, Stockton’s only downtown gallery. The Tidewater was honored for providing the community with an outstanding venue featuring local artists and for educational programs for our young people.
