Stockton Arts Commission

City Endowment for the Arts

The Stockton City Council established a $1.3 million City Endowment for the Arts in January 2001 to create an Arts Grant Program which is administered by the Commission. Since it's inception, over $250,000 has been awarded from interest earned on the Endowment.

This program supports Stockton Arts Organizations, artist and arts educators seeking funding to support various projects. The purpose of granting funds is to:

1. Increase public awareness of Stockton's art resources
2. Strenthen Stockton's art resources
3. Support collaborative programs
4. Educate people about the arts
5. Serve a diverse audience
6. Provide more arts events to the public (performances, exhibits, classes, etc.)
7. Provide more arts events in the downtown central core, reinforcing economic development goals in the area
