Stockton Arts Commission
The Stockton City Council established the Stockton Arts Commission (SAC) in 1976. The group was pioneered by founder and charter chair Marian Jacobs (photo).
SAC promotes public awareness of arts projects and programs, assists artists and arts groups, and advises the City on artistic and cultural development in the community.
|
| Commission members also provide free technical, promotional, informational and organizational services to the visual, performing and literary artists and arts groups in Stockton. |
| City Endowment for the Arts |
| The Stockton Arts Commission oversees a $1.3 million City Endowment for the Arts that is used to provide annual grants to Stockton artists and non-profit arts organizations. |
| |
| Public Art |
The Stockton Arts Commission also provides oversight of the City's Public Art Program. Both programs were established by the City Council in 2000. |
Mission Statement
Stockton Arts Commission is the arts advocacy agency of the City of Stockton. It serves as a catalyst to support, sustain, and strengthen the community by increasing awareness, opportunities, and involvement in arts and cultural activities. |
