Utility Service providers that provide water, gas, electric, video, or telephone service to any customer within the City limits are required to bill and remit to the City of Stockton the appropriate Utility Users Tax. Electric, gas and water providers must collect and remit under Stockton Municipal Code (SMC) Sec. 8-070 through 8-079, excluding Sec. 8-072 and 8-076.
The Communication Users' Tax was modernized with the November 4, 2008 election and ratified by the City Council on December 9, 2008, Stockton Municipal Code (SMC) Sec. 8-320 through 8-339. For information regarding changes to the ordinance and other important information, please visit Measure U: Communication Users' Tax Implementation. The tax collected with the remittance form is due by the 28th day of the month following collection.
