Information Technology
Information
Technology (IT) is responsible
for maintaining and troubleshooting
over 1,500 City computers and the
network that connects them. Additionally
IT ensures that City IT projects
are well designed, cost-effective,
and conform to technical standards.
Specific services include:
Business Applications
The Business Applications Team works with
all City departments to develop, integrate,
and maintain City applications, including:
Building
Permits
Code
Enforcement
Planning & Zoning
Utility
Billing
Accounts
Receivable
Business
Licenses
Fleet
Management
Purchasing
Inventory
Payroll
Personnel
General
Ledger
Budgeting
Work
Orders
Land
Management
Emphasizing service delivery and quality
assurance, the Business Applications Team
balances application support and integration
efforts.
Geographical Information Systems
GIS is responsible for computerized mapping.
This technology enables diverse City databases
to be displayed and analyzed using a geographically
oriented interface. The group is responsible
for administration of the LandMaster program,
which provides access to topographical and
systems maps
Network Administration
The City's wide-area network is comprised
of dozens of services, switches, hubs, gateways,
and other equipment configured and continuously
monitored to keep downtime at a minimum.
Network Administration is responsible for
maintaining the network, which allows users
to send and receive e-mail, schedule meetings,
share information, browse the internet, and
access a wide variety of legislative and
financial systems
Support Desk and Training
The Support Desk provides
a wide variety of technical assistance to
City employees via phone, e-mail, and on-site
calls. On average the Support Desk handles
850 cases per month. Cases include network,
hardware, and software issues. Departments
that operate outside normal business hours
may contact the emergency Support Desk.
The Training Team coordinates
training in all standardized programs. Employees
are encouraged to attend regular computer
training sessions, so that they can use information
technologies effectively. Additionally, city-wide
training is arranged for software conversions.
Public Safety Support
The support that IT provides Police and Fire
is critical to providing public safety services.
Support includes maintenance of:

Safety Databases
Web Development
The goal of the Web Development Team is to
improve customer service by increasing public
access to information and services.
Currently the City's website offers:City
Council information, web mail, informational
postings, Stockton Municipal Code & Zoning
Ordinance, news releases, the community calendar,
emergency services information, local links,
and more.
