SEC. 2-1101. ADOPTION:
This Part is adopted pursuant to Article XIV, Section 1002 of the Charter of
the City of Stockton to prescribe the qualifications and conditions applicable
to the employment by the City of employees of the Children’s Museum, the
functions of which the City of Stockton is assuming by contract.
SEC. 2-1102. CLASSIFICATION:
A. The City Manager may employ Children’s Museum employees in any position
excluded from the competitive service by Section 2-006 of this chapter.
B. The City Manager may employ Children’s Museum employees in positions
included in the competitive service, without the necessity of examination;
provided the positions are determined by the City Manager to be substantially
equivalent to positions the employees formerly held with the Children’s
Museum, and provided the City Manager is satisfied that the employees have
satisfactory records of performance in such positions with the Children’s
Museum.
C. Employees admitted to the competitive service shall be employed only in
a probationary status and shall not be employed in any promotional classification.
SEC. 2-1103. PHYSICAL EXAMINATION:
Employees shall be examined by the City Physician in accordance with City standards
applied to all entry-level employees.
SEC. 2-1104. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
All employees shall comply with the educational requirements contained in the
applicable class specification at the time of employment.
SEC. 2-1105. SALARIES:
The City Manager shall designate the appropriate step in the City Salary Schedule
for each person employed pursuant to this part.
SEC. 2-1106. ACCRUED LEAVE:
Any person employed pursuant to this part shall be credited with the amount
of annual leave and sick leave accrued and unused and not cashed out through
the Children’s Museum at the time this ordinance takes effect.
SEC. 2-1107. SERVICE CREDIT:
Any person employed pursuant to this Part shall be credited for all seniority
purposes with the period of employment obtained during their employment with
the Children’s Museum.
SEC. 2-1108. RATIFICATION:
The employment by the City Manager of any person in accordance with the provisions
of this Part but prior to the effective date of the ordinance adopting this
Part is hereby ratified.
SECTION II. SEVERABILITY.
In the event any section or portion of this ordinance shall be determined invalid
or unconstitutional, such section or portion shall be deemed severable and
all other sections or portions hereof shall remain in full force and effect.
