South Stockton Redevelopment Project Area

The South Stockton Redevelopment Project Area Plan was approved by the Redevelopment Agency on July 2, 2002. The project area encompasses approximately 4,252 acres and includes the area between the San Joaquin River and State Route 99, south of the Crosstown Freeway and roughly north of Duck Creek.

When the Redevelopment Agency adopted the South Stockton Project Area they also merged the existing All Nations, McKinley, and Sharps Lane Villa Project Areas with South Stockton. Since these three redevelopment areas were adopted in the 1970's, redevelopment activities have been occurring, including improvements to public infrastructure, construction of new single family affordable housing in the All Nations Area, and rehabilitation of existing housing stock in the McKinley and Sharps Lane Villa areas.

  1. Housing Projects, including rehabilitation, new construction, and homeowner assistance;
  2. Business Assistance, including incentive programs and rehabilitation and façade programs; and
  3. Infrastructure Improvements, including sewer line replacements and street/sidewalk improvements.

Several projects are in process in the South Stockton RDA, including the El Concilio Offices at First and Airport, the Joint-Use Gym at Brotherhood Park and Phase II of the Airport Way Streetscape Project.  There is also a potential improvement project for the underpass on Martin Luther King Boulevard.
