Midtown Magnolia Lighting Project

MAgnolia District home

Bid notices were published on July 8, 2007 for the Midtown Lighting Project in the Magnolia Historic District bounded by Harding Way, California Street, Park Street and El Dorado Street. This project will install ornamental streetlights reminiscent of the original lights in this historic area. A portion of the lights will be refurbished Monarch poles that were manufactured in Stockton. Other lights will be King pole typically used downtown today. Bids for this project were due on August 2, 2007.

In August 2007, the City Council awarded the contracts and construction began shortly after.  The project entailed the removal of 65 street lights located on wooden poles and installation of 114 new light standards.  Of the 114 new street lights, 32 were refurbished old cast iron streetlight poles which were retrofitted with new electrical components and 82 were new ornamental light fixtures which complement the historic context of the neighborhood.

Installation of all 114 lights was completed March 13, 2008

  Installation Complete
