The project area Magnolia Mansion - University Parkencompasses approximately 3,500 acres and includes the area generally between Interstate Route 5 and State Route 99, south of Harding Way and north of the Crosstown Freeway.

When the Redevelopment Agency adopted the Midtown Project Area they also merged the existing Eastland Redevelopment Project with Midtown. The Eastland Redevelopment Project was a 94-acre commercial, retail and residential development containing the Eastland Plaza Shopping Center located on Wilson Way.

UniFirst on El DoradoNo specific projects are proposed at the current time, but the Midtown Project Area Committee (PAC), which is composed of nine residents and business owners and operators from the area, is working to establish priorities for the types of programs and projects that would most benefit the area. In general terms, the following are the types of projects that the PAC would like to see undertaken:

  1. Housing Projects, consisting primarily of housing rehabilitation and homeownership assistance;
  2. Business Assistance, including assistance with new construction and business retention programs;
  3. Cleanup of contaminated properties; and
  4. Infrastructure repairs

PAC meetings are open to the public. See the list of Midtown Project Area Committee Members for the list of members and the next meeting date.
