Copies of a Police Report

The Stockton Police Department has specific policies and procedures regarding the release of reports.  Some reports are releasable, for example, accident reports, but others, such as ongoing criminal investigations or information concerning juveniles, need to be reviewed by supervisory staff for consideration.

If you are the victim of a crime or involved in an accident, you may obtain a report in person at the Police Department's Records Section, 22 East Market Street, Stockton, CA  95202 (hours: 8:00 - 6:00, Monday through Thursday and 8-5 every other Friday). The cost is 10 cents per page; the fee for certified reports is $5.00. When requesting a report, you will need the following information:

    • Your name
    • Date of birth
    • Identification number (Driver's License or Passport)
    • Crime Report number or location and date of incident
    • Address and telephone number
    • Indicate the type of incident (Accident, Arrest, etc.)

NEW! - Collision Reports Online

Citizens may now access and purchase copies of most Stockton Police Department collision reports online. Purchasing a collision report online is extremely easy and convenient. Citizens enter the date of the collision and two other fields, such as an involved party's name or location of collision; these are required to ensure the citizen purchasing the report has a legal right to the document. The $15 fee is required; paid by credit card. If you are interested in purchasing your collision report by using this service, go to www.MyCollisionReport.com and follow the step-by-step instructions.

Emergency Protective Orders and Restraining Orders

The California Courts Self-Help Center provides helpful information for victims seeking protection from abuse. The California Courts' site also has downloadable forms for Emergency Protective Orders and Domestic Violence Restraining Orders.  For a list of forms, click here.

The San Joaquin County Superior Court's Web site offers some helpful information for victims of domestic violence.  Click here for details.

Fingerprinted

The Stockton Police Department's Evidence/Identification Laboratory can provide fingerprinting services to the general public, on a space available basis only.

Fingerprinting days are as follows:

  • Mondays
  • Wednesdays
  • Fridays (except holidays)

Hours:

  • 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • 1:00 p.m. to  3:30 p.m.

If you wish to be fingerprinted by the Police Department, you should call (209) 937-8177 after 8:00 a.m. on the day you desire to be fingerprinted to see if there is a vacancy.  If there is a vacancy, you will be given an appointment for that time slot. If there is no vacancy, you will need to call back on the next fingerprinting day.

Fingerprinting is done on the first floor of the Stewart/Eberhardt Building at 22 East Weber Avenue (Center Street entrance).

At the time of arrival, all fingerprint applicants must have a valid and current photo ID, such as a California ID Card, Passport, or Green Card.  A valid and current Driver's License is acceptable (this includes out of state).  An expired Driver's License with a printout from the DMV will not be accepted.

Fingerprint applicants who desire electronic transmission of prints must have a completed Request for LiveScan Service that has a Billing Code and pay the $20.00 fee for fingerprinting service. The Billing Code tells the Department of Justice (DOJ) who to bill for the background search.

Private nonprofit organizations with "fee exempt" accounts with the DOJ do not require a Billing Code, but must pay the $20.00 fingerprinting fee.
